TENTH STREET BRIDGE CANSTRUCTION

The road leading to preservation of Great Falls’ 10th Street Bridge has been marked by imaginative efforts.  This year the members of Preservation Cascade have not let their supporters down.   True to form, Preservation Cascade is planning a whimsical entry for Canstruction, a national event benefiting food banks across America featuring fantastic structures all built of canned food.  Great Falls architect Ken Sievert has designed an entry modeled after the 10th Street Bridge for the competition.  The entry incorporated 950 cans into a replica of one of the 10th Street Bridges arches.

Preservation Cascade has worked tirelessly for a dozen years now to save this landmark bridge. With the first million dollars raised, the 8 concrete arches and smaller spandrels were all repaired, and the first section of upper decking and rails completely reconstructed.  The last phase is to complete the restoration over the 7 remaining arches. To help them meet their $2 million goal, you too can sign up to be a friend, patron, or even “Arch Angel.” To become a member, please contact them at Preservation Cascade, Inc, 1409 4th Avenue South, Great Falls, Montana, 59405-2415. And to help sponsor the Canstruction project, or to donate cans contact Alisa Herodes (868-7980) or Linda Seibel (761-4354).
